Yes, yes - I know it's Thanksgiving, and I shouldn't be on the computer. But....well....my kids are with their father (my ex-hubby), and I am not leaving for an hour to go to my grandmothers with my mum. So I hopped on for a minute. No, I'm not an internet addict, why do you ask? *snorts*
This is the first Thanksgiving I'm not going to have my kids, and it's......odd. Not bad, persay, just odd. Usually their dad either works or doesn't have anything going on that I'd want to subject my children to, so he comes and gets them for an hour or three after we've had our dinner and such. But this year he actually had a dinner to go to, so I offered the day to him. He cam and got them last night, and will be dropping them off tonight. So I am child free for the first Thanksgiving in 12 years. And it's....well, like I said, odd. No rushing around making sure they are ready, or anything else that goes along with kids and going somewhere for the Holidays. I just need to throw my hair up, toss on some semi-decent clothes, and pop out the door.
So - that's exactly what I'm going to do now.
Just wanted to pop in, make a few observations on my life (as it were), and wish everyone a VERY happy and peaceful Thanksgiving day.

$100 gift card to Home Depot for free? What a deal!
I subscribe to this blog in my Google feed (http://athomemomblog.com/could-you-spend-100-at-home-depot/) and she is giving away a $100 gift card to the Home Depot. What a deal, right? Random drawing, and the only thing you have to do to get an entry in said drawing is to comment at the above link. I'd highly suggest staying around the blog and reading, however, because I think it's a very good blog (or else I wouldn't be subscribed to the feed!).

The Grinch and my Children
I watched "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" tonight with my kids. Even though they are 12 and 10, it's not put a stop to any of our family traditions - this being the one we always kick off the "Holiday Season" with. We always sing the songs together (usually botching up a few lyrics, but that adds to the fun - I linked to the "Welcome Christmas" song from the beginning of the movie....just click the blog title post...gotta love you tube *laughs*), and it got me to thinking about how glad I am that my kids understand that Christmas isn't all about the presents, but about the things we do together as a family and the traditions we share.
I hope everyone else is as lucky as I am, and although this entry is nothing special, I just wanted to share a little moment in my life. I'm off to go listen to Christmas music now!!

First Post
I am starting this blog for a few reasons.
First and foremost is so my clients (and potential clients) can learn a bit more about me - and what I do, of course! I am also going to be offering exclusive sales and promotions through this blog, and occasionally putting up examples of my work.
A bit about me would be fitting, I think. I'm a 32 year old mother of two. I've been taking pictures since I was 14. I started off with a 35mm film camera that was a gift from my parents, and from the first picture I took, I found a new way to look at things. My first digital camera was purchased when I was 30, and it took my natural eye for things to a new level. I love shooting with digital because it allows me to share my pictures easily with people, and when it comes to my photography business it allows me to provide you with the ability to print your own pictures - keeping my costs down (and your as well).
I started taking photos professionally not only because I love to capture moments for someone else, but because I wanted to do so at an affordable price. Not everyone has a lot of money to plunk down for well thought out, professional pictures (that capture the REAL you, not an overly posed and processed studio vision) - and that's something I wanted to provide; a niche market, if you will. I don't want anyone to sacrifice quality for the price they pay, nor do I want them to sacrifice their budget to get the kind of pictures they want. I hope to fill in that middle ground with quality pictures that contain some artistic vision (both yours and mine!) with a price that fits in with anyone's budget. I specialize in outdoor and on-location sessions, but offer limited studio sessions as well, which helps keep my costs down (as well as yours).
So there you go - that's me (and 'Photography by Laney') in a nutshell.
And now for the first of many special discounts I'll be offering here!
During January and February, taken advantage of our winter sale! Start your year off with quality, affordable photos that capture a moment in time that you can share with loved ones the whole year through.
